STECCI PROJECT LAUNCH AND KICK-OFF MEETING IN SARAJEVO

September the 1st marked the launch of the new HORIZON EU Project „STECCI“ (STone monument Ensembles and the Climate Change Impact), where the Angewandte is represented by the Institute of Conservation (IoC, head: Gabriela Krist). The research project's main goal is to understand the impact of climate change on outdoor stone monuments, particularly on the so-called Stećci (UNESCO World Heritage listed monuments), as well as to explore innovative and sustainable protection methods.
The first project meeting was held in Sarajevo between the 21st and the 23rd  of September 2023, where the IoC was represented by the staff members Farkas Pintér and Marija Milchin. Apart from the Angewandte, eight other partners from eight different European countries constitute the project consortium including Heritage Malta (Malta), Institut Mines-Telecom (France), Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (Germany), Zentrum für soziale Innovation (Austria), Umjetnička Akademija, Sveuciliste u Splitu (Croatia), University of Novi Sad (Serbia), Univerzitet Donja Gorica Podgorica (Montenegro), and Univerzitet u Sarajevu (Bosnia and Herzegovina), in the role of coordinator of the project.
