Sonoric Reflections – 12TON
Angewandte Interdisciplinary Lab
A musical dialogue between the works of living composers from the 21st and renowned composers from the 20th century.
This evening with 12TON is curated by Schayan Kazemi. A Cooperation with Punctum Collective 12TON is a concert series for
new music that was launched in the fall of 2020 on the Brick-5 area in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus. The starting point of their series
‘Dialogues for Generations’ refers to works by composers of the 20th and 21st century. The primary aim is to create a musical
dialogue between the works of living composers from the 21st century and renowned composers from the 20th century.
In this edition of Sonoric Reflections – 12TON, the concept has been made more open. The curatorial selection
includes composers from the 20th and 21st centuries. Contemporary representatives such as Manu Mayr, Christoph Herndler or
Stefan Fraunberger are featured alongside Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928–2007), Earle Brown (1926–2002) and Anestis Logothetis
(1921–1994).
The idea is to build a bridge between the generations from a musical and characteristic point of view and
at the same time to establish commonalities and contrasts within the broad field of contemporary music.

In the former cashier hall at Otto Wagner-Postsparkasse a continuous echo of sound waves are given by the special architecture
of the arched ceiling. This creates acoustic reflections in all dimensions. With Sonoric Reflections, AIL invites established
concert series and collectives to explore this space as a body of sound and experience.
