This open call invites artists
and creative practitioners based in Austria to develop new work in dialogue with one of 27 local contexts worldwide. Initiated
by NeverAtHome in collaboration with the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs and the Austrian
Cultural Forums, the selected projects will be developed and presented internationally in 2027, culminating in a group exhibition
in Vienna in 2028.
The call is open for artists and creative practitioners based in Austria. Applicants are invited
to propose new work to be developed in dialogue with one of 27 destinations worldwide.
Rather than responding to
a single overarching theme, applicants are asked to engage closely with the cultural and social context of their preferred
destination. Proposals may take shape through artistic research, exchange or collaboration.
Twenty-seven projects
will be selected by an independent international jury. Each selected project will receive a total budget of EUR 6,700, including
taxes, covering the artist fee as well as production and presentation costs. Travel and accommodation for one presentation
trip to the respective destination will be covered separately.
The selected projects will be presented across the
participating destinations in 2027, culminating in a group exhibition in Vienna in 2028. Proposed works must be new, feasible
within the available resources, and suitable for presentation both at the selected destination and in Vienna.
SubmissionArtists may apply individually or as a duo and may submit one application
only. Applicants must select a preferred destination and may indicate a second choice. Applications open on 15 September 2026,
with submissions in English accepted until 30 November 2026.
