Higher
Education Teacher Award for Tanja Kimmel with Angewandte course
11. July 2025
Tanja
Kimmel (Institute of Conservation) has been awarded a PROFFORMANCE+ International Higher Education Teacher Award 2024/25 in
the category Sustainability.
The consortium selected their seminar “Climate Action, Now! – Museen
im (Klima-)Wandel” for the MA Expanded Museum Studies as an example of good practice over more than 160 other entrants. The
innovative format aims to prepare students for the ecological challenges in the museum sector and train them as change agents
for sustainable transformation processes. In the last winter semester students created i.e. the first CO2 balance for KunstHausWien
and guidelines for sustainable exhibition design as well as optimised the Future Talks media archive.
"Climate
Action, Now! engages students in practical sustainability projects within the cultural sector, collaborating with KunstHausWien.
The course blends theory and hands-on experience, delivering scalable strategies to reduce museums’ carbon footprints and
exemplifying effective interdisciplinary and interinstitutional climate education", as stated by the jury.
